Baby Alayna

I absolutly love children. I love their chubby cheeks, big inquizitive eyes, their own personality and did I say I love their chubby cheeks?!? Well, let me tell you that Alayna was no exception! Big chubby cheeks that I wanted to kiss and pinch! Alayna was such a good baby and you can tell how happy and content she is.

Of course I'd be happy and content if I was the center of my family's attention. Her older brother and sister always knew exactly what would make her smile. Cheer-leading cheers and books.
Isn't she just the most adorable thing you've ever seen?!?! Oh, did I mention how pretty her blue eyes were? Well, you will have to take a look at them. Gorgeous! You can see more of Alayna's photos from her sessions by clicking here.

Until next time.

Realization

This is my precious little baby, Gus. He loves getting his photo taken. See, he's even smiling for the camera. Anyways.....I've come to the realization that he has the best life in the whole world. He gets to eat as much as he wants when ever he wants. He gets both Kyle and I's undivided attention, ALWAYS. And I'm pretty sure that sometimes I'm jealous of him. Why? Because I'm absolutely sure that Kyle treats him better than he does mean. Now, don't jump to conclusions. Kyle is a wonderful friend and an even better husband, but let's just say that Gus lives a fabulously glorified life. A life that any human would die for.

Well, I have to run. Gus needs my attention and is informing me that he wants to go outside and play!

Household Name

How do I get myself out there? How do I make Missy Whitfield Photography a "Household Name?"

Obviously word of mouth is the best, nothing can beat a positive review from a current client. Hands down!

I currently work as a sales trainer for a newspaper company. I teach advertising sales reps how to sell advertising to their advertisers. My motto has always been to only sell products or programs that are beneficial to the advertiser. But ultimatly getting them to spend as much as possible. (Yes I just said that)

But now I'm on the other end of the spectrum. I'm the business that wants to advertise my business. And it's really hard for me to cough up the money to buy advertising. (It's funny how things can turn a 180)

You have no idea how many marketing, advertising, and business building books I've read. Believe me when I say, I can not stand reading them. Why can't they write self help/business books with a little romance or mystery in the middle? Some photographers say that they have never once spent a dime on advertising. Jasmine Star is one of those awesome photographers that started her business in 2006 and without any advertising was named in the Top 10 of International Wedding Photographers. So is there a right or wrong way? I don't think so. I think it all depends on your business and what works for you. I think that's the "Trial and Error Program."

So right now, I am heavily depending on the Word of Month option. And believe me when I say that I have the most wonderful and beautiful clients in the world! They have done such a fabulous job telling friends, coworkers, and family about my photography. THANK YOU!

I have to give a huge shout out to Michelle Beck at T.Beck Salon in Nowata. She has graciously allowed me to feature some of my photos in her salon. Not only is she an awesome person, mother, and friend, but she is also super awesome with hair! Thanks Michelle!

Until next time,

Here we go.......

On your Mark. Get Ready. Set. Go!

My name is Missy and I am a wannabe photographer. I don't want to be just any old photographer I want to be a unique photographer that isn't like everyone else. I want to be the photographer that mothers take their children to when they want something different. I want to be the photographer that couple choose because their comfortable with me and want a different look than the same old run of the mill engagement photos. And I want to be the photographer that captures the memories of a bride's wedding. Captured Memories.....not posed...."Get lined up and SMILE!"

But how am I going to get to that point? How am I going to make Missy Whitfield Photography be different from all of the others? I guess first of all I'm going to need to figure out what makes me unique. So here I go........

I love the feeling of being free, like a gypsy. However, for some reason I like rules. Weird, isn't it. Some days I like to have a set schedule and know that when I wake up in the morning exactly what I have to do. But nothing makes me happier than riding my horse thru a pasture without any cares. There is something so invigorating about riding a horse that you don't have to say a word to, but it knows everything your thinking. Just thinking about it makes me smile. :)

I love my family. But that doesn't make me unique, a lot of people love their family.

I love music. Of course, I may not know who the song was written by, who sang it first, and who's singing it now. But I'm sure my husband, Kyle, can.

I love reading. I love reading so much that sometimes I have to restrict myself from reading. Once I begin reading a book, I can't stop till it's finished. And then I'm upset that the book is over. I become so enchanted with books that I, in my mind, become the main character. When the book is finished I want to know what happened to every character that was named in the book, not just the main characters. Kyle tries to tell me that is how he feels about video games, but I just can't understand how it could ever be the same.

I think I'm going to ask the people around me what they think. What makes me, Missy, unique?
