Iowa Cowboys: The Straight Boys

Awhile back, my cowboy had to go up to Omaha for work.  I took this as an opportunity to go see my parents up in Iowa and to see some old friends and take some photos.  The Straight boys may be cute, but don't let these photos fool you.  They were full of energy and crazy ideas!

Look at Jett, the one on top, he might be the most ornery of all!

After photos, they quickly changed into their Halloween costumes and we jumped in the car to go trick o treating.  More candy was exactly what they needed!

Tulsa Engagement: Christine and David

Christine and David met while both were servers at the Melting Pot.  Yum! (What is it about dipping food into fatty melted cheese and chocolate?)  Since David thought that Christine was already taken by another man, Christine had to make the first move.  Now, come December 30th, they'll be together for 3 years.  Doesn't that make your heart melt?

We were able to schedule their engagement session while Christine was back home in Tulsa for Christmas break.  It was a great cloudy day in downtown Tulsa, which made for some great lighting and color.

One thing I especially love when a couple has been together for a while is their ability to simply fall into each other...and just be. I didn't have to talk/coach/guide too much for this engagement session because Christine and David were simply happy being. Together.

I love shooting in downtown Tulsa, there are so many different colors, textures and walls to use.

Christine saw this great idea using their wedding date on the amazing website pinterest.com and came prepared.

One man's trash is a  photographer's treasure.  We found this awesome couch in a back alley and moved it to a nearby doorway.  Love it!

Until next time,

Fall Family Session: Dossett

I've had the joy of taking little Addison's photos since she was 7 days old.  Now at 18 months you might say she's a pro!  She even decided to include Mom and Dad in her session.

Addison loves being the center of attention.

She wasn't for sure if she was supposed to be standing on the chair.

She loved posing with the pumpkins!

Blonde hair. Check.  An outfit with attitude. Check.  A perfect smile. CHECK!

Such a cute family!!!!!!

Twin Session: Freeman Kiddos

Whew!  I'm finally getting around to and getting caught up with some blog posts.  Between getting one of the worst head colds I think I've ever had and a quick trip back to Iowa, I got a little behind.  But don't worry, I won't let you miss a thing.

Say hello to the Freeman Kiddos!

That's right!  I got to take photos of another set of twins!  I love my job!

2012 Oologah Senior Model: Brodie Snider

I'd like to introduce everyone to my 2012 Oologah HS Senior Spokesmodel, Brodie Snider.  This girl is a very busy girl.  Being involved in FFA, FFCLA, Student Council, Varsity Cheer, Sr. Class President and barrel racing keeps Brodie's schedule full.

Family and Friends of Brodie:  Contact Brodie to find out how YOU can receive $20 off a print order from your own photo session.

Here's a sneak peek from Brodie's Senior Photo Session.

Brodie's neighbor had the neatest old barn to take photos.

We drove down the road till we found an awesome shaded dirt road.  I love dirt roads!

And old Trucks!

Thank you Brodie for being such a beautiful person inside and out.  I had a great time taking your photos.....even with being on the edge of a sinus death bed!

Until Next Time,

A Bridle Creek Wedding: Mike and Jessie

A few days before Mike and Jessie's wedding, I met up with Jessie and her mom to go over details and photo timeline settled.  While standing on the beautiful hillside by the Bridle Creek Lodge, I asked Jessie to tell me how she and Mike met.  She took a deep breath and smiled as a tear of complete happiness ran down her cheek.   Many tears later, Jessie looked at me and asked....."How do I keep from crying on my wedding day?"  I asked her, "Why wouldn't you want to?  You cry because your emotions overcome you.  Because you have found the love of your life and this is your day."

Jessie agreed and said that she was worried about ruining the photos.  I told her that years from now when she refers back to her wedding photos, it will mean more to her to see photos with emotion than to see posed perfect photos.

And let me just say that Jessie and Mike's photos were anything but posed.  These two amazing people were made for each other. Thru out the day I saw them laugh together, cry together, and love together.

Thank you so much, Mike and Jessie, for asking me to be part of your wedding day.  You are a beautiful couple that have come together to make a beautiful family.

Jessie you are such a beautiful person inside and out!  Totally gorgeous!

Alisha Breazeale from Reflections Hair Salon in Coweta, Ok did an amazing job with everyone's hair.

Jessie's Alfred Angelo dress was simply stunning on her.

I absolutely love it when my couples choose to have a first sighting before the wedding.  It's an amazing private time between the bride and groom and makes for some emotional natural photos.

I love my cowgirl brides!  Elegant and tough all wrapped up in one.

The sun was beginning to set and the beautiful fall colors came out.

Mike and Jessie were so natural together.

Natural = Breathtaking Photos

TW's-AFAB Catering did an amazing job.  The food was so good.

Did I say this already?  I love my cowgirl brides!

The beautiful flowers were done by Petal Pushers based out of Eufaula, Ok.  The flowers looked amazing from beginning to end.  Gorgeous!

The day was very windy.  Thank the heavens for this awesome textured wall outside of the Bridle Creek main office.  I'm pretty sure it was the only non-windy spot on the place.

However, the wind did make for some fun photos.  Look at how the wind caught Jessie's veil.

Jessie had her horse, Cowgirl, hauled to the wedding.  Cowgirl did an amazing job and didn't spook once at the dress.

This photo gives me goose bumps every time I look at it.  I'm not for sure there is anything else as gorgeous as this in the entire world!

The Jones Family

P.S. Cash don't forget to remind your dad that she's your woman now too!

Lighting 101

Why is it that sometimes the simplest concept is so hard to get?  It's probably because I'm blonde.  My Cowboy would say it was because I'm too much like my mother.  Either way, I just don't get it.  And when I don't get it.......I try, try, and try again until it finally turns that light bulb on in my head.

Today's Subject:  Lighting

These photos will show you the difference a light source will make on an object, simply by where the light it coming from.

OH!  And the flowers were given to me by my amazing Cowboy!  Love You Bunches!

This is with the light source (window) directly in front of the flowers.

This is with the light source directly behind the flowers.

But this gorgeous photo is with the light source off to the side.  Isn't that a beautiful soft light?

Now let's move onto artificial lighting.

This photo was taken with my SB600 external flash.  Nothing wrong with the photo, it just doesn't have a wow factor.

The other day I bought an LED Pocket light with intentions of using it for dark receptions.  While in my living room with the lights off, I held the LED light off to the left and...........this is what I got.

Simply by turning the same photo to B/W I got a photo with a lot of emotion.  Just imagine the same technique used on a first dace photo of a Bride and Groom.

Breath Taking.
