9 Month Session: Braden

While back in Iowa for a visit I fit in a few sessions.....ok ok......more like 8!  Whew!  So much for a vacation, but I can't complain.  Especially when I abosolutly love what I do and had a great babysitter lined up.....Thanks Mom!

One of the sessions I had scheduled was with the Hinzmanns.  Elizabeth and I were the best of friends growing up.  I can't believe that we are both married with kids now!  Does that officially qualify us as being old hens?  That's something to ponder about.

Speaking of old hens.....the old chicken house at her mom and dad's place was the perfect place to take some family photos.

Braden is nine months old and full of energy!

There is not much posing when you are working with a nine month old.  But who likes posed photos anyways?

Who says this is supposed to be on my head?  I prefer it as a chew toy.

Braden was ready for a nap by the end of the session and was a little fussy.  But doesn't he make the cutest fussy face?!?!

Adorable!

Wasn't a fan of sitting in the grass either.....oh well.....Momma will calm him down.........

And when Momma picked him up and walked away to calm him down.....this is the gorgeous moment I captured.  Awwww.

Until next time,

Gift Session: Gary and Kristi

I know that we've all come across a gift giving holiday and want to give something meaningful to friends and family.  Finding that meaningful gift can sometimes be hard.  When it came to Christmas, Kristi and Gary's girls wanted to give them something that they could keep for ever and that's exactly what they did...........with a Session and Gift Certificate to Missy Whitfield Photography.

The Perfect Gift!

Prior to the session I had been in correspondence with Kristi and she had mentioned that they's like to include some of the family pets in the photos.  Sure, no problem!  Well, when I pulled into their place......I see cattle dogs on the flatbed truck and a horse loaded in the trailer.  These are my kind of people!

Gary works for a ranch up by Coffeyville, KS and had found a few place on the ranch that he thought would be awesome places to take photos.  And let me tell you that he picked out some amazing spots!  And these weren't just any spots, they were spots that you had to have a 4x4 vehicle to get to them.  AWESOME!

Since I love taking photos in the early morning, because of the spectacular lighting, of course the grass was wet.  And of course I was wearing flip-flops on my swollen pregnancy feet.  Did I say that this was the last photo shoot I did during my pregnancy?  Oh yes, and of course wet flip flops and a blonde the size of a whale don't go together.  Yep, I slipped and broke my flip flop!  Just my luck!  No matter, I'm an Iowa farm girl, I just proceeded on barefoot.  You know the saying, "Barefoot and Pregnant in the Kitchen."  Well, I was "Barefoot and Pregnant in the Pasture."

I love this dead tree!  I wonder if they'd know it if I snuck back there someday with a backhoe and the tree miraculously relocated to a small ranch south of Nowata?

One of the picked out spots had old fallen down stone buildings.  Love!

Oh, fyi, besides my wonderful dog Gus, isn't this the cutest dog ever?!?!

So, this was a pretty neat christmas gift.  Thinking a session and gift certificate is exactly what you need?

Until Next Time,

Senior Session: Nicolette

I don't do that many senior sessions, so when I get the chance I always have a great time!  And this session was no exception.  I've known Nicolette since she was a little girl jr. rodeoing with my sister-in-law.  She has grown up into such a beautiful and smart young woman.

We started the day off at her Grandma and Grandpa's place and then moved on to downtown Tulsa.

She has such a beautiful natural smile, of course it always helps when you have something to smile or laugh at.  The day or our shoot, it happened to be the same time that she had the "Take Home Baby" from her life class.  So everywhere we went we had to carry a doll around with us.  LOL.  Thank goodness she hired her best friend to babysit during the session.  I'm sure we were an interesting group walking around downtown Tulsa!

Gorgeous!

She looks so grown up in this photo!

Complete adorableness!

Until next time,

Engagement Session: Lisa and Terry

I love everything that has to do with love.  I love those mushy old romance novels.  I love the feeling of love.  I love how a mother lovingly looks at her child.  I love how a child hugs their pet dog.  I love taking photos of two people that are in love.  Have you stuck your finger down your throat yet and said gross?  Well too bad, I can't help it.  It's who I am.

Now let's get back to the couple at hand, that happens to be in.......you guessed it......LOVE!

I had such a great time taking Lisa and Terry's engagement session.  Let me rephrase that.......I really enjoyed taking their photos and capturing the love that they share with each other.  I did not enjoy the hike down and up the big hill at the Will Rogers Museum.  You know the hill I'm talking about.  It's the one that is that provides the best sledding after a great snow storm.  Well try walking up and down it......pregnant!  Well, I did it.....even if Terry had to get behind me and push me back up it.  I'm kidding!  He didn't have to push me up.......we just had to take a break (or two) on the walk up.

Aren't they just adorable together?!?!

Love it!

I can't wait for their wedding in December!  Love, Love, Love these two!

Until next time,

Family Session: The York Family

Our good friends, Stephen and Nancy, got married in Las Vegas a few months ago.  Kyle and I were unable to go due to the upcoming arrival of our perfect little boy, Hayes.........and I do mean perfect!  Many other friends and family joined them in their festivities, however one very important member of the family was unable to attend.

Cowboy!!!!!!

So, when Nancy set an appointment to take new family photos, she asked if we could take a few bridal photos with her and cowboy.  Absolutely!

Cowboy was a great model....most of the time.........well......when we could get his attention.......well.......when he wasn't looking at the great big pasture he could run in..........well......when he wasn't jumping and playing..........well......when he wasn't rolling in the layers of Nancy's dress.......well......good grief!  He's a dog that want's to run and play not take photos!  Of course he did act better then some children and husbands that I've taken photos of!  LOL.

See my point?!?!

Such a beautiful family!

I love capturing raw/natural moments!

Having my studio on our ranch has it's advantages......especially if you're a Texas Longhorns fan.

A few years ago, Nancy and Stephen brought Cheyenne to a rodeo to watch my Cowboy rope.  That night Cheyenne met Rio.  Chey has been in love with this horse ever since and wanted to make sure I got to take a few snapshots of her and Rio.

It made her day when my Cowboy let her take a quick ride!

All smiles from ear to ear with dimples.  That's like adding a cherry on top!

Until next time,
